Catching up!

Whew! It has been over a month since I have blogged! So sorry to drop off the face of the earth. I will fill you in on what has transpired the last month and half. Actually not everything because a couple of things need their own post. Several things actually. Watch out, I am BACK! Oh and hey, apparently my music is back too! Woo hoo! I will have to work on updating the playlist. Lots of new good songs, just need to see if they are available.

So after little miss Boogie Woogie Bugle Girl debuted her new outfit, she had several opportunities to wear it. One being a very special trip to American Girl for her birthday.

This girl had been looking forward to this trip for quite some time. She had a couple of personal assistants. They just came out of the woodwork, no kidding. AG has got it all figured out!

Four generations of my family were represented on my daughter's special day.

Her babies were not neglected. Even Dexter the class bear came with us!  He spent the holiday season with us so you will be seeing him again.

It was a good day at American Girl!

In addition to American Girl, she had a birthday party at home. We actually held it several weeks before the America Girl trip.

DEFINITELY a Sis Boom, Girl's World inspired party! Our whole house is Sis Boom inspired these days!

We had a costume party and all the kids had their picture taken with the picture frame. I promise I won't show you all of them though! Lots of kids!

I thought they turned out pretty cute! Yes they are triplets, my best friend's boys.

We had an art project table. Actually I had a couple of projects for them to choose from, but they all just did their own thing. Which is more than fine with me! They were having a lot of fun!

A little artist that is going to make headlines one day. She is AMAZING! Trust me. Wins money for her school every year with her artwork. She rocks. She is my best friend's daughter. Love her.

My son, as I affectionately call him, THE BOY, arrived home from school in the middle of the party. No he is not in costume this is one of his school uniforms. But it looks like maybe Mitt Romney is peeking over his shoulder....

We had a little costume relay race where you have two teams and they are divided up and stand about 15 feet apart in their respective groups. The objective is to put on all the clothes in the bag assigned to your team, run across to your teammate, take it all off, hand it to your teammate, they put it all on, run across...you get the idea. The first team to finish wins. We laughed our HEADS off! It was so fun!

We also did the limbo and had a bean bag toss. We sent these kids home exhausted and sugared up!

After her birthday celebrations we went to Houston for Lights in the Heights. I made a little Portabellopixie Claire dress for her to wear for the festivities.

I made the apron removable so you will be seeing this dress again! Hopefully soon! I want it to be a Valentine's Day dress too!

Lights in the Heights is a fun street party that is PACKED with families, couples, friends, dogs, bands and lots and lots of cute cottages decorated with lights. Almost every house is filled with party goers. The streets are filled with onlookers, and the occasional lawn is occupied with adults and children dancing their hearts out to the live music. It's pretty neat. It's pretty crowded too.

She became a party expert this season. She knows where to find the good stuff right away!

My son played at the party we attended.

The lights were hard to photograph but you get the idea!

We also cooked and baked. A lot.

Finally, Christmas Eve we went to Johnson City. Not far from where we live. So beautiful.

Well that sums up our holiday season. I skipped a lot of pictures, a few parties, and gatherings. But this is a good enough sampling of some of the highlights over the last few weeks! You can see why I disappeared....

So I have already been creating some NEW things! Wahoo! This month I am tinkering with fabric play and sewing for friends and family. So wait, there is more to come!

I will be back soon with more about the gifts as soon as the recipients receive their packages. Surprises abound and I don't want to spoil it for them!

Have a beautiful day!!!

  5. I met you in the parking lot of Magnolia last spring. Your daughter had on the Kyoko dress. I sewed all through my childhood through college. I hadn't sewed for twenty years. I dusted off my serger, literally covered, cleaned it up, borrowed a regular machine from a friend and started doing repairs and embellishments to build my confidence. I got a Serger Stylist for an early Christmas gift and haven't looked back! Tree skirts, aprons, clothes for my daughter, etc. got a dress form so I can begin projects for me. I got my Kyoko pattern and Alexander Henry fabric today and I wanted to thank you for inspiring me and giving me back my creativity. I have been home with my daughter for 1.5 years now and needed a problem solving activity to get my brain back, thanks again! Also, I spend my evenings on fabric sights, totally addicted! Maybe I'll run into you at Magnolia again wearing a new creation.
